Praia de Alvor is one of the ex-libris of the Portimão region.
In addition to the Blue Flag, it was also distinguished with the Quality of Gold, awards that confirm both the environmental quality of the waters and the infrastructure.
The vast sand is another of the charms of this beach located at the source of the Ria de Alvor.
The sandy barriers of Alvor allow the existence of an interior lagoon with marsh banks and calm water channels, making this habitat a sanctuary for countless species of water birds, resident or passing, and for many species of fish and molluscs.
The Alvor dune system has undergone a requalification and there is now a network of walkways and paths that contribute to the preservation of the dune system and provide access to the beaches and the jetty.
A nature trail, which is accessible, offers resting points and viewpoints, allowing contact with the typical habitats of the Ria de Alvor: the dunes, marshes and the estuary.
