Alcoutim is a Portuguese municipality in the district of Faro, and the region and sub-region of the Algarve, with about 2,917 inhabitants. Until the administrative division, established in 1832, it belonged to the province of Alentejo.
The municipality of Alcoutim, headquartered in the village of Alcoutim, has an area of 575.36 km² and 2 917 inhabitants (2011), being subdivided into 4 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north by the municipality of Mértola, to the east by Spain (Andalusian municipalities of El Granado, Sanlúcar de Guadiana and San Silvestre de Guzmán), to the southeast by Castro Marim, to the southwest by Tavira and to the west by Loulé and Almodôvar.
