The municipality of Albufeira is located in the south of Portugal, in the Algarve, more precisely in the West Algarve.
The municipality occupies an area of 140 km² and has a resident population of 40,828 inhabitants (2011 census), extending from the seafront to the interior.
The municipality is divided into four parishes: Albufeira & Olhos de Água, Ferreiras, Guia and Paderne.
The climate of the region is temperate Mediterranean, the average annual temperature is around 18ºC, as in the rest of the coast and barrocal of the Algarve. In the month of August the maximum temperatures are around 34ºC and the minimum ones are 18ºC, in January the temperatures are around 15ºC and the minimum temperatures are 6ºC.
