It is said here “the sun wakes up and falls asleep surrounded by tones of fire”. Huge expanse of fine sand that, in addition to being privileged with a beautiful sunset, has waters of excellent quality. The crossing of the estuary is carried out by boat from the town of Fuzeta.

Fuzeta was the former parish of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, a curate of the municipality of Tavira, to which it belonged, having also been attached to the parish of Olhão. Its settlement started with some huts that were used by fishermen to keep all the equipment used in the fishing of the frame practiced in this place.
Later on, the number of huts increased, giving rise to fishermen who wished to have greater convenience in the bar.

Land of fishermen, it still conserves many of its houses in cubic form, topped by terraces – the rooftops – from where the curious balloon chimneys, characteristic of this area of ​​the Algarve, emerge.
