The space of the village results from the relationship of the built nucleus with the agricultural floodplain, where the stream, in addition to being a genesis, has the importance of supporting the village as a system and establishing its relationship with the outside.

The place name of the parish of Odeleite, will have its origin in the Arabic “wdi al-laban”,
which means “river of milk”.

The origin of the settlement is very old, given its location between the four high mountains, in an area very exploited by ancient peoples and which benefits from the passage of the stream that, at the time of the Arab occupation, was a river called Leite, much more flow than which is the riverside today.
