Vilamoura is an urbanization located in the Algarve (municipality of Loulé, belonging to the parish of Quarteira). It has a Marina, a golf academy and five golf courses, a casino, several discotheques, a tennis club, a diving club, other leisure facilities, an extensive beach, and dozens of 4 and 5 star hotels.
In the Vilamoura area are the Roman ruins of Cerro da Vila,
where it is possible to see a bathing complex and the mosaics of a residence representing fish.
Among the various initiatives taking place in Vilamoura is the International Show Jumping Competition and the PokerStars Solverde Poker Season.
To the west of the Vilamoura urbanization is an area of 271 hectares considered by BirdLife International as an Important Area for the Preservation of Birds.
